Day 1
Marina di Scarlino – Palmaiola – Portoferraio
Weigh anchor early in the morning to sail these 22 miles to Portoferraio, the most populous town of Elba. A little de-tour to take a bath in the charming little island Palmaiola is compulsory. Arriving in Portoferraio, you can moor in the ancient mooring, the “Darsena Medicea”, or in the mooring of the yard “Esaom Cesa”. You can also have a safe anchorage. Not to be missed: the marvellous view from the lighthouse of Forte Stella.
Day 2
Portoferraio – Capraia
Route to Capraia! Pearl on the Mediterranean Sea, rock and volcanic, it seems lonely and faraway, but it has become a must-see destination for sailors and sea lovers. Capraia is exposed to Libeccio, Sirocco and Mistral: the best is to moor in the small harbour of the island or use the buoys to have a safe anchorage. The wild beauty of its sea bottoms, the coast and the marine environment will fascinate you.
Day 3
Capraia – Bastia
Sail to Corsica. Bastia is situated at the base of the majestic Cap Corse, where you can relish amazing views. Bastia, which has always been a town of sailors and fishermen, offers spectacular sea landscapes, among beaches, cliffs and rock faces. Bastia and its history are waiting for you.
Day 4
Bastia – Fetovaia – Marina di Campo
Come back to Elba, but before reaching Marina di Campo, you need a break. Stop in Fetovaia for a dive. Its beach is one of the most fascinating of the island, thanks to the promontory that protects it. Fetovaia is a must-see destination for all sailors: the naturalistic landscape is amazing. Moor in Marina di Campo, one of the most beautiful bays. Pay attention in case of South winds: you can have a safe anchorage, because the jetty is not sufficient, and mooring could be difficult.
Day5
Marina di Campo – Golfo Stella – Porto Azzurro
Point the bow towards Porto Azzurro. The enchanting town of Spanish origin, founded by Filippo III of Spain, is lively and welcoming. Because of its proximity to Marina di Campo, you can overnight there. The harbour during the summer is very crowded. In this case you can have a safe anchorage in front of Porto Azzurro or in Golfo di Mola. Don’t forget to visit Golfo Stella and its sea, an inevitable pause to take a refreshing swim.
Day 6
Porto Azzurro – Cala Violina – Marina di Scarlino
Your holiday is coming to the end, slowly sail back to Marina di Scarlino. To wish goodbye to this week, let’s stop in Cala Violina for the last dive in the blue sea of Maremma.
