Day 1
Marina di Scarlino – Cerboli – Portoferraio
Do not waste any other time and sail towards Portoferraio, where part of Napoleon’s exile took place. You should take a break for a swim at Cerboli, a small island in the channel of Piombino. Reaching Portoferraio you can moor in the ancient mooring, frequented in the past by Etruscans, Greeks and Romans, the “Darsena Medicea”, or in the mooring of the yard “Esaom Cesa”. You can also have a safe anchor. Not to be missed: the amazing view from the lighthouse Forte Stella.
Day 2
Portoferraio – Capraia
Capraia is waiting for you! Rock and volcanic, lonely and faraway, it is a must-see destination for sailors and sea lovers. Capraia is exposed to Libeccio, Sirocco and Mistral: you can moor in the small harbour of the island or use the buoys to have a safe anchorage. Not to be missed: it is an oasis to do snorkelling, diving and lonely swimming.
Day 3
Capraia – Macinaggio
Lift the sails and go to Corsica, exactly to Macinaggio, a lovely city surrounded by sea and mountains. Beaches are wonderful sweeps of white sand and rock jagged coasts among inlets and bays.
Day 4
Macinaggio – Giraglia – Saint Florent
Hoist the sails to go to Saint Florent! You should stop in Giraglia to have a refreshing bath: a small island at the end of Cap Corse, uninhabited and wild, perfect to have a break totally in peace.
Day 5
Saint Florent – Golfo di Girolata
Weigh anchor early in the morning and sail to Golfo di Girolata, surrounded by slopes covered by the Mediterranean scrub, in contrast with the red of porphyries and the turquoise of the sea. Take a swim in the bay and visit the Genoese fortress that dominates the gulf from 1550, you will not be disappointed.
Day 6
Golfo di Girolata – Ajaccio
Point the bow towards Ajaccio. The Corsican capital city will fascinate you thanks to its amazing history. Ajaccio is an unique and magical city: the animated markets and the alleys of the old city are unmissable. Do not forget to taste the typical dishes. They will make you crazy!
Day 7
Ajaccio – Cargese
Route to Cargese! This nice village, in the shape of a horse and with Greek origins, dominates the immense sea. The inhabitants preserve even now Greek language and traditions.
Day 8
Cargese – Calvi
Weigh anchor towards Calvi! The city, enclosed among sea and mountains, will attract you thanks to the walls, the limitless bay and the endless wonderful beaches.
Day 9
Calvi – Saleccia – Desert des Agriates
Sail to discover Desert des Agriates! A desert territory situated between Cap Corse and Balagne. Here the tranquillity is ensured and coasts are preserved thanks to the protection of the seaboard. You will see the Mediterranean scrub as far as the eye can see, and the gulf Saint Florent at the horizon. A refreshing dive is what you need and Saleccia is perfect for you.
Day 10
Desert des Agriates – Giraglia – Bastia
Next destination: Bastia! During the trip you will find Giraglia, ideal to have a break. Bastia, situated at the feet of the majestic Cap Corse, has always been the town of sailors and fishermen and it offers marine landscapes, among beaches, cliffs and rock sides.
Day 11
Bastia – Marciana Marina
After consulting charts, leave Bastia and Corse and go to Marciana Marina, a lovely town in the North-West coast of Elba. At the entrance of the harbour of Marciana Marina, you can see the ancient Torre degli Appiani, dated back to the XV century. Not to be missed: the old city and the promenade that preserve the typical nineteenth-century traits of coastal Tuscan towns.
Day 12
Marciana Marina – Fetovaia – Marina di Campo
From Marciana Marina sail towards Marina di Campo, another idyllic town of the biggest island in the Tuscan Archipelago. Fetovaia, a must-see destination for all sailors, will greet you with its white sand and its turquoise and crystal blue sea. You should have a safe anchorage as the jetty is not sufficient and mooring could be difficult. Be careful especially when South winds blow.
Day 13
Marina di Campo – Marina di Scarlino
After breakfast, leave Marina di Campo and sail to Marina di Scarlino. As the sailing holiday is coming to an end, take a break in Punta Ala for a last swim. That is the best way to say goodbye to these wonderful places!
