Day 1
Marina di Scarlino – Palmaiola – Portoferraio
Weigh anchor early in the morning to face these 22 miles of navigation that bring you to Portoferraio, seat of Napoleon’s exile. Remember to do a little de-tour to take a swim in Palmaiola, an isle in the canal of Piombino. In Portoferraio you can moor in the ancient “Darsena Medicea” or in the mooring of the yard “Esaom Cesa”. Not to be missed: the wonderful view from the lighthouse Forte Stella.
Day 2
Portoferraio – Golfo di Viticcio – Marciana Marina
After breakfast, leave to take a swim in Golfo di Viticcio, with rock and steep coasts, jagged by five beaches. Pay attention in case of Mistral blowing fast! You can overnight in Marciana Marina, typical town characterized by nineteenth-century traits of coastal Tuscan towns.
Day 3
Marciana Marina – Fetovaia – Marina di Campo
Sail to Marina di Campo! Before reaching it, don’t miss the chance to dive in Fetovaia, inviting beach and compulsory destination for sailors. Then moor in Marina di Campo: it’s one of the most fascinating bays of the island. Pay attention, as when Southern winds are blowing, it would be better to have a safe anchorage, because the jetty is not sufficient and mooring could be difficult. Have a lunch or better a dinner in one of the typical restaurants… food will let you crazy!
Day 4
Marina di Campo – Giglio (Campese)
Sail towards Giglio, a paradise to discover. Watch carefully the sea during the navigation: you could see dolphins, sperm whales and fin whales. The coast is jagged by cliffs interspersed with bays and inlets and with the beach of Giglio Campese. The amazing sunset of Giglio Campese is not to be missed.
Day 5
Giglio (Campese) – Formiche di Grosseto – Porto Azzurro
Go to Porto Azzurro, but first take a break in Formiche di Grosseto, three isles 15 miles far from Porto Santo Stefano. These are real uncontaminated paradises, full of archaeological evidences. Only 18 miles separate you from Marina di Scarlino. That’s why Porto Azzurro is the best place to stay the last night.
Day 6
Porto Azzurro – Marina di Scarlino
At the end of this intense week of sailing, sea and wind, it’s time to head back to Marina di Scarlino. You can have your last dive in Cala Martina. Its crystal sea is ideal to say goodbye to the Tuscan Archipelago and its landscapes.
